Manufacturing process templates: maintenance, safety, quality and planning
Editable manufacturing process templates for maintenance work orders, permit to work, safety incidents, inspection and CAPA, production planning, supplier quality and new product introduction.
The plant-floor processes every manufacturer runs whatever it makes: keeping equipment running, authorizing hazardous work, reporting and investigating incidents, inspecting material and product, correcting what fails, planning production and introducing a new product. The processes specific to what is being made live on the food & beverage and furniture hubs; this hub holds the disciplines they share.
Most of what is on this hub is a control loop rather than a production line. Maintenance runs from a work request or a due date to a costed close-out, with preventive, corrective and predictive work in between and a failure investigation when the same asset keeps coming back; the maintenance work order alone spans request, planning, execution and sign-off. The asset lifecycle frames that loop at both ends, from commissioning and handover into routine operation to decommissioning and removal from the register.
The safety families are the second loop. Permit to work turns hazardous work into authorized work: induction and toolbox talk, a screened and assessed job, proven isolations, a time-limited permit issued at the worksite, gas testing and a stop-work authority anyone can use, with the hot work, confined space, working at height and excavation permits hanging off it. Safety incidents close the other loop: a near miss or an injury is made safe, reported, classified, investigated past the person to the conditions, and closed on corrective actions verified in the workplace.
Quality on this hub is the generic set: the inspections a manufacturer runs along the flow of material, incoming, in-process, first article, final and pre-delivery, and the nonconformance-to-CAPA chain a failed check leads into. Production and demand planning sit under inventory control, supplier quality runs from risk tiering to the evaluation that can de-list a supplier, and product development takes a design into repeatable production through a stage-gate process, new product introduction and the engineering change request. There is no generic production-run template here; a run is what a sector defines.
Map the loops, not just the line
A plant's failures rarely stay inside one department. A maintenance backlog becomes a safety exposure, a permit issued without a proven isolation becomes an incident, and an inspection result that is not routed into CAPA is a defect that will be found again. These templates draw each loop with its handoffs between operators, maintenance, safety, quality and planning visible, so the point where one process depends on another is on the chart rather than in someone's head. They are operational starting points to adapt to your equipment, site rules and quality system, not a substitute for your risk assessments or regulatory obligations.

Process families
Maintenance
Maintenance is the cycle that keeps plant running: a request or a due date becomes a work order, the work is planned against parts and a downtime window, done as preventive or corrective work, tested back into service and closed with a costed record. The templates below follow that cycle in order, with the unplanned and the specialized cases alongside.

Asset lifecycle
The asset lifecycle is the arc a piece of equipment follows from the day it is installed to the day it leaves the register: commissioned and handed over into routine operation, maintained through years of work orders, and finally decommissioned, disposed of and struck off. Three templates cover the arc; four more cover qualification, laboratory retirement and two sector-specific commissioning routes.

Permit to work
Permit to work is the control system that turns hazardous work into authorized work: the people on site are inducted and briefed, the job is screened and assessed, isolations are applied and proved, an authorized person issues a time-limited permit at the worksite, the atmosphere is tested and kept tested, and anyone can stop the job. Safety incidents
Safety incidents is the reporting-and-learning loop of a health and safety system: a close call or an injury is made safe and reported, classified and notified where the law requires it, investigated past the person to the conditions, and closed with corrective actions verified in the workplace. Three templates form the loop; the emergency decision tree and the two inspection rounds feed it from either side.

Inspection
An inspection is a planned check against a criterion with a recorded result and a decision: release, hold or act. This family collects the inspections a manufacturer runs along the flow of material (incoming goods, in-process hold points, first article, final and pre-delivery checks) with the safety, workplace and equipment inspections that check the place and tools, not the product. Nonconformance to CAPA
Nonconformance to CAPA is the spine of a quality system: something fails a check, the departure is contained and classified, its cause is found and proven, the fix goes through change control and, weeks later, someone checks whether it actually stopped the problem recurring. The six templates in sequence cover each handoff; the six alongside are the same loop seen from a supplier, a laboratory or an audit finding.

Inventory control
Inventory control is the discipline that keeps the system quantity equal to what is on the shelf. There is no single order to it — counting, investigation, replenishment and planning run alongside each other — so this family is a group: one template for the whole stock loop, the controls that correct it, the triggers that refill it, and two templates for when the warehouse or its system misbehaves.

Supplier quality
Supplier quality is the cycle that decides which suppliers you buy from, checks what they deliver, holds them to account when it fails and periodically decides whether to keep them.
