Furniture equipment maintenance: seven templates from PM to breakdown response

Furniture equipment maintenance is the planned and unplanned work on the machines a wood shop depends on: schedule maintenance around production, lock the machine out, service it by type, replace or resharpen the cutting tools, prove it with a test cut, and respond to a breakdown without pretending the schedule is unaffected. This family groups seven templates; it is a set of procedures, not a single sequence.
The planned route starts with preventive maintenance, which reschedules a PM to the next planned downtime rather than skipping it, requires lockout/tagout before any task, escalates anything beyond routine scope to the breakdown process, and verifies with a test cycle before resetting the interval. Under that lockout, woodworking machine maintenance inspects belts, bearings and drives, checks blade sharpness with a routing to tool replacement, and gives guards and interlocks the same weight as performance; CNC maintenance backs up the control program first and calibrates axis positioning to tolerance. Both end with a test cut judged by the operator.
Cutting tool replacement measures wear against a stated standard, decides resharpen or replace by tool type, and sets offsets before any output is trusted. Lockout/tagout gives each worker in a group their own lock and verifies zero energy with an actual start attempt. The unplanned route is breakdown response: safe shutdown and isolation first, a diagnosis that separates mechanical, electrical and tooling causes, a parts-availability check that gives an honest downtime estimate, and a schedule-impact assessment that re-routes work orders. The dust extraction inspection stands alone: airflow at every connection, filter condition, and the spark and fire detection system.
The work-order, planning and close-out discipline around these procedures, and equipment calibration and failure investigation, are the generic maintenance family; the isolation and permit controls behind lockout in a wider plant are permit-to-work. The machines being maintained are the ones the woodworking route runs on, and the schedule a breakdown disturbs is owned by furniture production planning.
