About the company

DHL Group spans international express deliveries, freight forwarding, contract logistics, e-commerce parcel networks and domestic German post. Its five operating divisions are a better map of the group than a split between two customer-facing brands.

The September 2026 change is central to this chart. The listed parent formerly named Deutsche Post AG is now DHL AG; the German mail and parcel business retains the Deutsche Post AG name as a subsidiary. An older diagram that labels Deutsche Post AG as the parent now reverses that legal relationship.

Five divisions after the parent-company rename

Express carries time-definite international shipments. Global Forwarding covers air and ocean forwarding and overland freight. These are separate divisions even though both move shipments internationally.

Supply Chain provides contract logistics and tailored supply-chain operations. eCommerce handles domestic parcel services in selected countries outside Germany and deferred cross-border services. Post & Parcel Germany handles German mail and parcels under the Deutsche Post name.

DHL AG is the strategic listed parent. Since 1 September 2026, Deutsche Post AG is the legal company for Post & Parcel Germany beneath it. This is a real parent-subsidiary relationship, unlike the other branches that group operating divisions.

Corporate Center, Global Business Services and Customer Solutions & Innovation span the divisions. They are shown as group-wide units, not a sixth, seventh or eighth operating division.

How this structure supports the business

The five-division view separates activities with different customers and asset models, from time-definite express transport to outsourced warehouse operations and domestic postal delivery.

The Deutsche Post branch makes the 2026 legal change visible without erasing the familiar German brand. Cross-divisional units are present but clearly outside the five operating divisions.

Advantages and disadvantages

The division view follows DHL's published reporting and 2026 legal structure.
It compresses country companies, gateways and operational networks into high-level branches.

  • Deutsche Post AG remains the German post and parcel company within the group.
