About the company

FedEx connects domestic and international package networks with logistics and digital services. Its fiscal 2026 Form 10-K records an unusually important boundary change: the freight business was spun off on June 1, 2026, and FedEx retained a minority equity interest. A shareholder stake is not the same as continued control or consolidation.

Before the separation, FedEx reported Federal Express and FedEx Freight as segments. After it, the company split the Federal Express reporting view into Express U.S. Domestic and Express International. This chart shows the post-separation view and labels its date; historical FY2026 revenue in the filing includes the earlier pre-separation period and must be read with that caveat.

Two new Express segments after the Freight spin-off

Express U.S. Domestic includes U.S. package activity across priority, deferred and ground services. Those service levels share a broader FedEx network and are not separate parent companies simply because they have distinct delivery promises.

Express International covers international export and international domestic activity. FedEx Logistics, which provides customs brokerage and global ocean and air freight forwarding, was moved into Express International as part of the new reporting structure. FedEx Office and Dataworks are other activities; this diagram does not promote them to reported segments.

FedEx Freight is omitted from the controlled-business tree because it became an independent public company. FedEx retained 19.9% of its shares at the spin-off, which belongs in an investment note rather than under an ownership branch that implies consolidation.

How this structure supports the business

The post-spin chart answers the reader's likely question about what FedEx currently controls and how its Express activity is reported.

Separating U.S. and international Express results can clarify network economics while still leaving room for shared brand, technology and cross-border operations that a single-parent tree cannot show.

Advantages and disadvantages

Two Express segments give a clearer view of domestic and international operations.
Network assets and customer journeys cross the reporting boundary.
Removing Freight prevents an obsolete ownership claim.
The retained minority stake and transition agreements need a separate explanatory note.
