About the company
Volkswagen Group is a German vehicle manufacturer with passenger-car brands, commercial vehicles, software and financing businesses. Its group chart is more useful when it shows the layers between Volkswagen AG and its brands instead of putting every marque directly under one chief executive.
This diagram depicts the company's published portfolio groupings as of September 2026. It is a business map, not a legal subsidiary register or a private executive reporting chart. The companion ownership note explains who controls the voting shares of Volkswagen AG.
Three passenger brand groups, with trucks and services alongside
Brand Group Core brings together Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Škoda, SEAT/CUPRA and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. SEAT and CUPRA appear in one published Core grouping but remain distinct brands. The chart keeps that shared grouping visible.
Brand Group Progressive contains Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and Ducati. Sport Luxury contains Porsche AG. Porsche AG is separately listed, so a portfolio branch must not be read as a claim that it is an internal department of Volkswagen AG.
TRATON is the group perimeter for Scania, MAN, International and Volkswagen Truck & Bus. CARIAD and Volkswagen Financial Services are shown beside the brand groups because software and financing do not fit inside a single passenger marque.
Ownership runs in the other direction from this operating map. At 31 December 2025, Porsche SE held 53.3 percent of Volkswagen AG voting rights, Lower Saxony 20.0 percent and Qatar Holding 17.0 percent. Those stakes are voting rights, not the fraction of vehicles or brands owned by each shareholder.
Key leadership roles

How this structure supports the business
The brand-group layer makes shared platforms and scale legible without erasing the distinct customer identities of Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche. A reader can see why a brand belongs with one set of sibling marques rather than another.
Separating TRATON, CARIAD and financial services prevents a vehicle-only tree from hiding major businesses. The separate ownership explanation also prevents Porsche SE's control of Volkswagen AG from being confused with Volkswagen's holding in Porsche AG.
Advantages and disadvantages
- Brand groups expose where passenger marques are coordinated.
- A tree cannot show all shared platforms, cross-brand functions or joint ventures without extra links.
Interesting facts
- Porsche SE and Porsche AG are different listed companies with different roles in the group structure.
- Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is in Brand Group Core, while Volkswagen Truck & Bus is a TRATON brand.
- Ducati is grouped with Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini in Progressive.
- Volkswagen AG voting control is not the same diagram as its operating portfolio.
