This chart uses Field Electrical, QA / Test & Inspection, Commissioning Engineer, Engineering and Customer. If your site splits the energization sign-off from general engineering review, give it its own lane rather than folding it into a role that also does other things.
Put your own pass/fail thresholds on the test-results decision
"Continuity and insulation test results pass?" needs the actual resistance and continuity values your installed cable and equipment ratings require, not just "tested and looked fine". Write the accepted values directly into the row's comment field so the person reading the meter isn't relying on memory.
Name who has the authority to approve energization
The energization decision is the one branch in this chart with real safety and equipment consequences if it's skipped. Attach a named engineer, not just a title, to "Energization approved by responsible engineer?" so there's no ambiguity about who can send a system live and who has to send it back to "Hold energization, resolve outstanding issue" instead.

Decide what counts as a functional-test fault
"Faults found during functional testing?" is only useful if the technician and the commissioning engineer agree in advance on what triggers the Yes branch, a tripped breaker, a motor running backwards, a reading out of range. List examples directly in "Diagnose and resolve fault" so the checklist isn't interpreted differently by whoever happens to be on duty.

What triggers the start of the commissioning process?
The process starts at "Installation complete, ready for commissioning": the physical installation work, covered by Scanel's separate Marine Electrical Installation SOP, is finished and the system is ready to be proven out. Commissioning does not begin on a general sense that the work looks done, only on this specific handoff.
What happens if continuity or insulation testing fails?
The "Continuity and insulation test results pass?" decision routes a fail to "Correct wiring fault and retest", which loops back through testing again. There is no energization request built on a test result nobody trusts: the loop repeats until the readings actually clear.
Who has the authority to approve energization?
In this chart the energization gate sits with a named responsible engineer, not with whoever happens to be on site that day. Energizing a system that hasn't cleared testing or hasn't been formally signed off can destroy the equipment it feeds or injure someone standing near the panel, so "Energization approved by responsible engineer?" is a hard stop, not a formality, and anything short of a clean approval routes to "Hold energization, resolve outstanding issue" instead of going live.
Why does a functional-test fault loop back instead of going straight to the commissioning report?
"Faults found during functional testing?" routes a Yes to "Diagnose and resolve fault" and back through functional testing again, the same pattern as the earlier test-results decision. A commissioning report is meant to document a system that works, not one that mostly works with a known issue carried forward, so a fault gets fixed and re-tested before the report is written.
How is this different from Scanel's Electrical Inspection & Testing SOP?
The inspection SOP is a standalone service: a customer can call just to have switchboards, breakers or detection systems tested and reported on, with no other work attached, and any corrective action it turns up routes into whichever SOP actually fixes the problem. This SOP assumes a specific installation already exists and is ready to be brought into service, and it owns the energization step end to end rather than handing energization off elsewhere.
