Grant and Funding Flow Sankey Diagram: Template
Trace money from funders to programmes and then to staff, operating and partner costs, so supporters can see where each source goes. Replace the example figures.
A funding flow Sankey follows money from the people who give it, through the programmes it funds, to the kinds of cost it pays for.
The example organisation receives 1,000 thousand euros from three kinds of funder. It spends them on four areas, and each area on staff, operating costs and partners.
This is a communication aid, not a financial statement. It does not replace audited accounts or any reporting your funders require.
How to read this diagram
- Government provides 60% of the 1,000 thousand euros; foundations 30%; donors 10%.
- Education receives 400, the largest share (40%); administration receives 100 (10%).
- Staff costs are 620 (62%), operating costs 260 and partners 120.
- Foundations are the only funder that pays towards administration beyond donors.
