How it works

1. Prepare the process rows in Google Sheets

   Write one step per row. Include a shape, box text, the row numbers each step leads to, and optional lane names. Review decision branches before copying the rows into QueryChart.

2. Copy the prepared rows into QueryChart

   Paste the rows into the chart spreadsheet, or export the Sheet as CSV and import that file. QueryChart uses the prepared row and connection columns to draw the chart.

3. Check the generated flowchart

   Verify every connection and owner lane against the Sheet. A decision needs a destination for each outcome; a source column alone cannot supply those routes.

4. Link values that need later updates

   For selected chart columns, QueryChart can pull values from Google Sheets with read-only access. Pulling a column does not rebuild the flowchart or automatically change its approval state; review structural changes separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does Visio Data Visualizer support Google Sheets?

No. Visio Data Visualizer is an Excel add-in and depends on the Microsoft 365 / Visio Plan 2 ecosystem; Google Sheets ingestion is not supported. QueryChart is the spreadsheet-native option for Google Workspace teams.

How is QueryChart different from Lucidchart for Google Sheets?

QueryChart draws a chart from prepared process rows and can pull selected values into chart columns from Google Sheets. Map the sheet's fields to QueryChart's row and connection columns before import; a general purpose Sheet is not converted automatically.

Is the conversion deterministic?

Yes — the same sheet always produces the same diagram.
